The East Palisades Trail in the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area is one of our favorite places to hike in the metro area. The 3.4 miles of trails contain a few flat sections along the river, but adventurous hikers will want to tackle the steeper trails in order to see the fabulous views from the bluffs overlooking the river.
The trails are well marked and well maintained. There are multiple trail loops, but each intersection is clearly marked with a handy “you are here” on a posted map.
The shaded trails follow beautiful streams, past huge rock formations, and eventually lead to a hidden bamboo forest along the river! There are several places to relax and watch folks float down the river on tubes and kayaks.
